Why are there alwyas closed down and borded up buildings in poor areas?

  1. Because eventually, the criminal element outweighs the law-abiding citizens in those areas, leaving some business owners and building owners to abandon ship. If the cost of doing business is more than you can comfortably make a living doing so, (security, bars on windows, theft, risk) they have to go. Then you get vandalism, hence the boarded up buildings. But I have to tell you, vandalism is going up again and no area is safe. It happens everywhere.


  2. simply because nobody there has the money to buy, and fix them up, so they get boarded up to keep the weather out, and windows from getting broken. have a nice day
