  1. This is a good question, you know I think it is a matter of the family structure, if you grew up with a single parent then to some degree I always feel as if you are more prone to being one, not saying that your parents were bad people or that you are irresponsible you just tend to see it as not a big deal. My boyfriend is Chinese and one thing I have noticed is that family is very important. In fact his parents are actually divorced and it has not been well accepted by the family at all. In fact it is kinda like a cultural no no. Also I noticed Asians cultural seem to get married at a younger age. So I simply think it is a cultural thing as well as a personal thing :)

  2. It's usually due to the fault of the deadbeat dad when it comes to the rupture in Afro-Caribbean families. In many cases, this "dad" (more like an anonymous sperm doner to put it politely) sees the woman as more of a one-time thing (I emphasize, "thing") rather than a fellow human being who will be indulging in a long-term committed relationship. This of course spirals onto the kids, of whom will not only have a sole influence in their life, but will tend to join gangs for that "emotional support". That is the underlying principle of why the Afro-Caribbean family is a precipice, and it is an unfortunate matter.

Asians tend to be more family-orientated. They also tend to hold more traditional views too when it comes to the family. I think the family unit is being destroyed on the whole in the Western world. Mothers are going to work, Fathers are going to work. Where does this leave the child? Influenced by gruesome rap videos...and people wonder why we are enduring a societal precipice.
