Currently in the tally of medals won , the count of the number of golds won is 1 lower than the number of silvers won. The higher number of bronze medals can be explained by the award of the medal to both losing semi-finalists in a few sports . But aren't the number of golds supposed to equal to the number of silvers? (this is in the context of the Beijing Olympics)
