  1. San Jose is over 1200 meters over sea level, and that may affect, but also, the season, because on april or may, when Rainy Season starts, mosquitoes appeared, but on late night. Also, clean places are always free of flies, but someplaces in San Jose, where trash is on the floor and Dog's Poo in some sidewalks, flies are present.

  2. Ha~ it just seems that way , maybe! Possibly because that is the least one notices while in such a mesmerizing country~

    PURA~VIDA!

  3. There are flies there.  Maybe less than normal for Latin America, because its relatively clean and at a higher elevation with a relatively cool climate.

I never noticed that many mosquitoes in SJ, although in lowland areas of CR there can be a lot.

  4. What do you mean? there are a LOT of flies...

  5. FLIES!!! I HATE FLIES!

  6. their are tons of flies in costa rica

especially in the central market in san jose

  7. Certain parts of the city seem to have a lot more flies than others.  For the most part, the cleaner parts of the city seem to be indeed free of flies.  In all the times I have been to and stayed in San Jose, I don't recall being bitten by mosquitos.  I think altitude and cleanliness have a lot to do with both situations.

  8. There ARE flies, but way more mosquitoes.
