i mean there are no modern movies about the roman conquests or rome in general. you have "troy", "alexander", "Braveheart" a while back, "gladiator" kinda covered the glory days but not the development of the roman empire itself. of course there was "arthur" that covered the romano british but not the early days itself. all of these movies were great but where are the modern movies that focus more on rome and its growing empire (at the time) and not just related roman societies or issues? wouldnt the moviegoers of today love an epic 4 hour movie about s*x, politics and war? i mean how many sequels could u make for that right? so are there any more modern movies about rome that im missing or has hollywood completely missed out on this cash cow and movie making history?

  1. Night on Earth, has a segment that is totally about Rome.

  2. I don't know if this is exactly what you mean but HBO's two season series ROME sure satisfied my need for these things. It was s**y, smart, political, violent, and endlessly fascinating. Can't do much better than that.

There was also EMPIRE which was halfway decent though not as good.

Other than that you're right though, not all that much about the society in general.
