Question:

Why are there not many broadcast cameras with CCD's greater than 2/3"?

Is there any technical reason fo this????

  1. its probably a matter of space available inside the unit itself. the may be restricted in size to fit.


  2. Broadcast cams usually have big lenses. They can accept lots of light. 2/3" is actually quite large (especially compared to the consumer cam sizes) - and it is pretty much all they need to do what they want. Making the imaging chips any larger would probably be a waste of money because the return for that would be minimal. The whole image collection thing is a system... no single component is most important. All need to work together.
