I answered a question for someone wanting help with a pet food advert poem and got a thumbs down (but she wanted a limerick so fair enough I guess) I would love to use my poetry in advertising. I think Con-verbs would be the perfect form. Anyway this was my effort:

Go Wacko for Schmackos

(c) by Jellz

Kibble makes me gassy,

canned meat can bind me bad

that loafy stuff was quite enough.

the worst I’ve ever had.

In the end I’m your best friend,

So treat me with respect.

Proper food is what you should

serve, what I expect

So, forget your day old pizza

unthawed meat

leftover tacos

Just open up the packet

and let me

"Go wacko for Schmackos!"

  1. They won't come knocking on your door, but it can be done. Write a few 15 second-poems (read them aloud and time yourself), then write to the Advertising Dept. of the company, submitting your effort. Get the name of someone to address. It takes some research, but it works sometimes. All companies love rhyming poetry, which they usually put to music. Make an effort. It is in your hands (and your intellect).

  2. Why not! Many noted song writers, write jingles for TV adv.

One of them is Berry Manalow (sp of last name wrong)

  3. Funny - my dogs never seemed to have a gas problem from kibble. It was always the canned food that gave them a problem ♥
