In High School, all the drama guys were labeled g*y, but in Hollywood, they are straight. What gives?

  1. There's still some semblance of decency and sanity in America, and they don't want to drive all sensible people away.

  2. I guess because the media is so into there lives already, they want to keep that section closed off. Who knows, ya know? Its there lives. I feel sorry for them sometimes.

  3. Coming out is taking a risk, and if you're an actor it could mean 'damaging' your career. Lots of actors have come out only after they've gained a large following (George Takei, David Hyde Pierce, Neil Patrick Harris). And even then, there's no guarantee that they'll all stand behind you. It's not just coming out to friends, family, and those close to you - it's coming out to the media, the fan groups, and the people who'll put you down for it. When your private life is splashed across magazines and television, coming out means going very very public. I don't blame a lot of closeted actors for remaining so, that seems like a huge, huge step to take. Plus, some might just want to keep their private lives private, and that's fine too.

Some actors have come out and refused to hide from the beginning (John Barrowman, Adamo Ruggiero, Chad Allen), but it's a few compared to the many out there. It would be nice if they'd all come out, the world can always use more role models and visibility. But I don't blame some guys for taking their time, because it ties in with their careers, and they don't want it to effect their jobs.

  4. Too many small minded people go to movies and won't go if they know someone is g*y. Like it's going to pop OUT of the screen and turn them!

Labels and being are 2 different things though. Jocks play sports and aren't smart. That's a stereotype and false. All men who act are g*y. Stereotype and false. All girls that play sports and won't wear dresses are L*****n. And that's false. People can't be who they are due to stereotypes.

  5. They are probably scared of the reactions of all the closed-minded bigots out there.

  6. Would you like them to be labeled g*y for you?
