Question:

Why are there so few people who are able to call a spade a spade?

I can't believe how many people will say anything to support a political party and make excuses for these candidates without using their own common sense. Is it that you feel attacked personally? These people are not Pied Pipers and you are not rats!

  1. bravo mike, why can't we all look at these parties from a middle of the road perspective? We are all closer to the middle then they make us out to be.

  2. Defensiveness is the weapon of the weak

Be careful with the words you choose....you may offend someone now.

  3. Historically, politics has been and still is "dirty pool." Moreover, the masses have generally assimilated political pablum as though it were caviar or fine nectar.

  4. My theory is that some people let the party do their thinking for them.

It is a lot like a religious zealot; they swallow it hook line and sinker because it is the party position.

I am going to vote the libertarian party, but  some of their positions are not mine, including:

    Pro legalization of drugs

    g*y marriage

Elimination of almost all government programs (although I agree that a lot should be.

I agree with their anti-100 year war stand and with the need to stop deficit spending and high taxes.

  5. Just WHO are you calling a spade?  Poor choice of words, man.

  6. can i have some more cheese please ?

  7. Simple, this country has developed such a fear of  being perceived as "Politically incorrect" that the candidates and media simply are afraid of offending someone.  Let's face it, no matter what is said SOMEONE will be offended.  Some namby pamby whiner will file a lawsuit, some snake of a lawyer will run with it and some moronic judge or Jury will award ludicrous damages to an idiot who would otherwise be  penniless.

America has no backbone any longer, and is afraid to speak the obvious truth.  We talk about "Freedom of Speech" but do not seem to appreciate the fact that that includes the freedom to say something that someone else may find offensive.

Personally i find political correctness offensive.

  8. People have all types of arguments to reinforce their beliefs, whether accurate or not. They need those as they need to justify their actions, or lack of them, even if they are directly connected to their pocketbook.

I doubt if there are many concerning some political views that can be torn apart very simply. It isn't difficult. The issue is it goes in 1 ear and out the other!

As long as something fills the bill, they will buy it lock, stock and barrel integrating it into their myopic view of the world!

  9. Because they see nothing else but the kettle and they themselves forget to look in the mirrow.  You'd be surprised how many don't have common sense.

  10. Because thinking for yourself requires effort, and lets face it as Americans we live in a fat, lazy society that wants nothing more than to spend the majority of their time participating in mindless activities. Most people would rather have others tell them exactly what to think and why and when someone with a mind of their own comes along and questions those ideas they have no other recourse but to rant, rave and name call.

  11. We're not allowed to - PC and all.  Apparently, we're not allowed to say "spade" either.  I might have to look that one up.  I wonder if David Spade knows about this - he might be bummed that his name is apparently a bad word.  Or maybe it means "annoying idiot" after the type of character he chooses to play.  But I digress...

  12. The only rats I see are the rats abandoning ship.

And these rats are not Liberal, either.

  13. Sorry Mike, you make sense.  The problem is the politicos target the feeble, the hones and retards, and other gullible groups.  Remember, a hone's vote counts the same as yours or mine . 30% of the voters will decide within 1 week of the election, scary isn't it?

  14. This is not a new phenomenon.   Folks will naturally defend their party, and to be honest that is the way it should be.    Privately they may disagree with some of the decisions of the party, but publicly folks are going to put on that smile.   It is kind of like a "poker face"  if you will.     As frustrating as it can feel sometimes, that is just the way it is...
