Why are there so few waiters ? How do American boys get through College ?

Work in the kitchen and earn $7.5 an hour ? The girls can wait table and get up too $30 an hour including tips.

Most of the college friendly jobs are going to go to girls and they get to pay more money.

How do American boys get through college. I understand the common suggestion is for a female student to wait tables.

Could this be a reason for fewer boys enrolling in college; they simply can't afford to go ?

Most guys try for the construction industry, which pays a much better hourly rate, better work hours and is unionized, so once you get in, you can go through college 'at one job.

most guys in my area hold regular full time jobs and commute to college part time.

There are alot of places that hire guys, depending on where you live.  In Calif., there are lots of restaurants, like PF Chang's and Cheesecake Factory restaurants that hire both.  

Actually, even though girls get paid more when they're young, it's still the men who get paid more later on.  Even in restaurants, there are different levels of jobs: in fine dining, which pays more, there are more men.

If restaurants aren't hiring men to wait then there is something wrong.

I know plenty of guys waiting tables. I also know guys bartending and women working in the kitchen. I'm not sure where you are getting your misinformation.

If you are male looking to wait tables, try applying to fine dining restaurants (if you have the experience.) There are actually more men working in fine dining than there are women.
