Why are there so many Hispanic restaurants with the name "Garibaldi"?

Garibaldi's is an Italian name, not a Hispanic one?

  1. I have never heard of a Mexican restaurant with that name. And I live in California,where there are thousands!


  2. Never seen a Spanish or a Mexican restaurant by the name of "Garibaldi."

    However, Giuseppe Garibaldi fled to South America... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garibaldi

    Maybe his stay in South America influenced the food down there.

  4. The only thing I could think of is that most of the garibaldi restaurants started in cali. and the state fish is called garibaldi. aside from calling the restaurants and asking how it all got started that is the only thing I found out. sorry I couldm't be more of a help.

  5. Plaza Garibaldi is a famous square in Mexico City where Mariachi bands gather, and where people go to hire them.  This square is named after Giuseppe Garibaldi Jr, a lieutenant colonel in Pancho Villa's army, and son of Italian war hero Risorgimento, Giuseppe Garibaldi.
