There's something very British about the Asian corner-shop! I can't imagine our country without them :-)

Does any know why so many Indian/Pakistani immigrants decided to become small shopkeepers?

  1. back in india, given the population, its a we-share-all concept is in play.  instead of allowing big bisness to control, and less pple being employed, these pple with their family r able to stand tall and conduct business.  to be your own boss is still an important concept in this community.  in every country where there r indian migrants we get this corner shops or hole-in-the-wall shops.  they simply provide nearly all of our dry goods needs.

    fantastic, man!

  2. Profit margins may be low in this sort of business, but you have a broad base of customers. You also deal in non perishables, which is good, and from customer inquiries you can know what other business can be profitable.
