Question:

Why are there so many calls for Sachin Tendulkar to retire?

I keep seeing repeated comments that Sachin Tendulkar should retire. He has had a poor series against Sri lanka, and has now pulled out of the ODI series due to injury.

According to some, the "Little Master" is no longer worthy of a place in the Indian team.

Since the start of January 2007, Tendulkar has scored 1289 runs at an average of 49.57, including 4 centuries.

So why the calls for retirement? Surely after the long service he has given to India, he deserves to be given some respect.

Should Indian fans show a little more patience? Or is it time to vote off "The Weakest Link"? And is that Sachin?

  1. They forgot who won the Cb series finals for india too quickly

    they just see the current

If sehwag fails in odi series

they will be wanting sachin back and sehwag out

    lol

  2. Your last sentence is absolutely correct and that's the answer

  3. Sachin can be unfit to play a series but to ask him to retire is only childish. He is still one of the finest batsman cricket has ever produced. Ask any captain in the world if he would like to see Sachin in his team and I assure you there won't be a single captain who will not be thrilled to have Sachin on his side. Indians are known to be too emotional and it doesn't take much to change their minds. Some fools even compare Dhoni with Sachin!! The truth is that not Dravid, Ganguli, Laxman, and Sehwag are in his league. Sachin should play as long his physical condition allows him to play cricket. You won't find another Sachin in a long, long time.

  4. I think he lacks practice. He is out of form and needs to take time on the pitch to settle down. He goes for rash shots and throws his wicket. If he rectifies this, he should be given some more time to prove his worth. Moreover, I would say Sachin is better suited for ODI's.

  5. people jealous about him

  6. I agree with the answerer above me, I think it is time for Sachin to go. If the team were winning, maybe not, but they can't afford to give into sentiment when younger players might get those much needed wins for them.

  7. when people like Doctrove, Mendis and Mahela operate togethor so meticulously ~there is no choice left out!

now coming to main point, people have a short memory and forget what people have done in the past~

    hope it helps~

    god bless!

  8. Oflate, it is seen that Sachin is struggling to connect the bat many times.  He couldn't guess how to come up as per the situation.

  9. It's natural. I don't think a great player like Sachin can be judged by a few matches. Throughout his history, it seems like he's been an somewhat again/off again. On the other hand, if it's a trend, he needs to be replaced. The world of professional sports needs to honor its heroes, sure, but it can't afford to keep them on the team because of their history.

  10. i think he has a least a good year or two left in him. unfortunately everyone is expecting sachin to save india every time. he needs rest. he's becoming more injury prone. let him be. indian fans need to be more patient. they need to teach india how to properly field.

  11. , its because indian fans are generally deluded idiots, without a clue about cricket.

Maybe they should switch back 6 months ago, when he was smashing the australians in Australia, in both ODIs and Test, scoring centuries, with agressive ease of old.

EDIT: Yes he has had a lean series by his own very high standards, but luck was totally against him in all of his innings.

  12. In the last 40 test matches, he has averaged 51.1 runs per innings.

In the last 30 matches, he averaged 42.51 runs per innings.

In the last 20 matches, he averaged 43.84 runs per innings.

In the last 10 matches, he averaged 45.43 runs per innings.

In the last 4 matches, he averaged 13.57 runs per innings.

The deterioration has been gradual. The mastery is missing. Sachin has allowed bowlers to dominate him. Indian fans are disappointed.

With all due respects to the fabulous four, it is time all of them are packed off to retirement. Thanks Sachin, Dravid, Sourav and Laxman for all the enjoyment you had provided us all these years. It is time to say goodbye to test match cricket.

  13. Because, people tend to forget 'Form is temporary and Class is permanent". If he hits a 100 in the next match, these selfsame people who said he should retire will be lauding him and will say he should play till he turns 50. Indians always forget about the past including what they themselves said & did, they only think about the present. Remember, not long ago he was the GOD.
