Why are there so many case studies to learn in the GCSE geography test for OCR?

25 all in all!!

and only 3 came up i think.

why are there so many, it is pointless. and it can wind pupils up alot especially when they got other subjects to revise from

  1. I know. I was the same last year. It's a joke. I think it seems to be less of a geography exam and more of a memory test nowadays


  2. it's not too bad, all you really have to do is remember the place names, a couple of key facts, and pad out the rest with all the generic stuff.

    eg, we did the kobe earthquake as one, i just learnt the dates and death toll, then padded out the rest with things like infrastructure was ruined, secondary effects included fire and spread of disease etc etc,

    its not too hard ;)

  4. When I did it last year I loved learning about all the case studies as it broadens ones knowledge, and I think this is great for a general understanding of basic geography for life and not just for an exam.

    But for exam purposes 25 is just ridiculous to remember all, but I seemed to do it and I ended up with an A and I did not revise that much.
