Why are there so many characters in Titanic with the same name?

I know this might sound a little random, but seriously, theres Tommy Ryan and Thomas Andrews. Theres Cal and Rose's husband Calvert. And then there is Lovejoy and Mr. Lovett. I was just wondering if it was like a coincidence or what?

Most of the people in the movie were named for the actual people that were on the titanic in 1912

The writers weren't very creative enough to make new names.
