I know the game isn't exactly physically demanding, so I can see how they can physically play all those games, but who or why are there so many in the first place?

  1. Revenue.  If there where only 81 games ticket prices would be twice as much!

Wonder if they play 324 games if I only have to pay $3.50 for my beer?

  2. Why are the so many in first? Theres several divisions and the one with the best record is first. The AL East have been great this year and first place has been battled out of many teams.

  3. because teams go on hot and cold streaks

if baseball were to play 16 games, the best teams wouldnt make it to the playoffs, while in football, teams dont go on hot and cold streaks and the best team is shown in 16 games (the patriots :(..........)

  4. obviously you have never played baseball.  Baseball might be the most physically demanding based on the fact that games often last 3-4 hours, which is up there with hockey for the longest of actualy playing time.  and on top of that you play 162 games in roughly 200 days, is nothing short of amazing. baseball players have by far the most wear and tear on their body, and probably have to be in the best shape of any of the sports to maintain their health throughout the season.  They have so many to find out who really is the best team in each division/league

  5. Well at least the athletes don't get paid millions and millions of dollars to play only 16 games... wtf is that sh*t? If you are going to get paid as much as they do, I think it's only fair you should work every day for 8 months out of the year. Though I disagree with their salaries, I still love baseball :)
