Why are there so many less lefty women tennis players than lefty men tennis players?

I don't know if it just seems like there are much less lefty women because I watch far less women's tennis, but there seems to be some kind of pattern.

patty schnydeir is a lefty who uses extreame top spin... but her game does not fly very well.. her best chance in upsetting a top player is on clay.. even there her chances are limited..

There are hundreds less women than men players. The ratio of men players to women is like 7 men to one women. There are probably as many women lefties in comparison to men but the measure is not the same.
