I'm going to move there(hopefully in Sept/08) and have been doing some research. Some say getting a job is easy and others say difficult. I realize it may differ from person to person, but on average? I'm Canadian and have a BA in Educational studies as well as immense serving and esthetian experience!!!! to list some qualifications. I also have a social network there with various connections that I think will help me out!!!! Be honest peeps...I'm pretty determined on this goal, will I be disappointed? I want a job to meet the standard of living there minus financial struggles, and to simply enjoy the free style life and people. ;)

  2. Every country has laws regarding immigration and who can work in their country.  [I know someone from the US who had a very hard time getting a job in Canada as a US citizen, for example.]  You would need to find out what the laws are regarding this [e.g. you may need to return to Canada periodically to renew a visa], as well as what the job prospects are for your particular skill set.  I'm sure Barbados has an official website that would delineate these things for you or would guide you to the right source.

    Good luck!

  3. Well it totally depends on lots of things....Like

    * what you're applying for...

    * Who you know...

    * If there are a lot of locals that are applying for what you want to do.

    * If there are a lot of CARICOM nationals that are applying for what you want to do.

    * The country you come from.

    *Education level etc.

  4. Ignore Roberto W. I'm from Barbados and the crime rate is quite low. Once you have the necessary qualifications (which you do) getting a job in Barbados will be quite easy.
