Why are there so many pictures of people giving the finger on the internet?

I used to think that was funny when I was, like, 14. I just don't get the joke. People also have this look in the pictures like they're the first person in the entire world to ever think of it. Why does everybody do it, and think it's clever?

i think its because people sometimes feel represed - ie. keep bad emotions 2 them selves, and the internet gives them freedom. so they dont mind posing for pics of them swearing so thn when they r pissed off thn they can relate to tht image and focus on bein annoyed nd doin tht at  sum1 instead of bottleing it up nd stuff. but also to look cool and say "ooooh, im so rude im swearing in a picture of me on the internet"
