Why are there so many rapists?

I'm a man. I've also been a victim of a couple of minor sexual assaults when i was younger that led me to having a huge breakdown (from which I recovered). I've been a bit pushy sometimes sexually, but then i know men and women who've also been like that. But i just can't understand this whole rape thing, and why it seems to be getting worse. I don't think the world has always been like this. Any answers?

  1. It's because some people get off on inducing pain and fear in others. Don't ask me how it works, I'm too "normal" to understand the reflex, I guess. But rapists, child abusers etc....it's all about exerting power and creating fear in the victim.

As to why the tendency is on the rise, we have the media and Internet to thank for that. I was an adolescent when the shift came in the 70's from the artificial happy-happy TV shows to the glorification of violence and cruelty and dysfunctional families. Apparently, for movie and TV producers, there's no middle ground. Most of us live our lives neither in Ozzy and Harriet's plastic protective bubble, nor in the harsh, ugly world modern TV glorifies. But I guess middle ground isn't "interesting."

  2. Rapist like to be in control, almost all the rapists I have seen on the news could easily get laid if they wanted too.
