  1. Um.  I've never looked at stats about this so I couldn't tell you.

But in some countries murders are not reported.  In China, murders are rarely reported.  Actually abudtions of women and children are very common but the police do almost nothing about it.  People are not allowed to put up pictures of their missing kids because the police will harass them.

So maybe it happens more in the US then in SOME other countries because the US is pretty open about its crime.  There are no or few coverups.

  2. Because the American Family has broken up. A lot of kids aren't raised by their parent's, their raised by the media and the public. They don't understand what is going on, feel like they aren't loved, and become unhappy.

  3. You need to provide some kind of statistical information that verifies this claim. I've never heard that there were more serial killers in America than anywhere else. Are you basing this information on the news reports of a single country, or on the newscasts of several countries, or on some kind of international study?

Is a serial killer who's killed 14 people that much different than a dictator and his entourage who have slaughtered hundreds of people?

How do you know there aren't more serial killers in other countries? Are you familiar with the crime-reporting procedures of all these foreign lands? In countries where people are being sold into slavery or dropping dead in the street from starvation and easily curable diseases, do you really expect to find correct information on the presence and activities of serial killers?

  4. because in america it is so easy to get hold of a gun

  5. The answer to that is the media. It is very intense, wrongly focused and forces people into paranoia. It is a very controlling aspect of modern America.

  6. I don't think that, that is necessarily true. I think that it's a common misconception because everything in America is so highly reported on. The media covers every angle and so we think that America has more serial killers. As well we might be lead to think this because the policing in other countries might not be as good as in more developed countries. Also we may not recieve news from other countries.

  7. Nutters the lot of them !!

  8. Category "Sociology"

Your question is hard to understand given that U.S. population is 300 million and a serial killer might be someone who kills only two or so and is so "labeled" by the media and a fearful public.  I remember recent coverage of the "BTK" murderer and he was not actively killing but did follow the aftermath of his own victims' notice of death in the media.  Another notorious example would be spree/serial killers John Muhammad and John Lee Malvo who shot numerous people out of a deranged sense of societal alienation.  It is a good question to pose to criminologists and "profilers" but I have a feeling that the recent FBI labeling of Anthrax suspect and suicide victim Ivins from Fort Benning, MD is again an untypical murderer on which it is difficult for us to understand his why's and wherefore's.  Hope this is helpful.  Shalom.

  9. Because Americans repress their emotions until they nut up.

  10. to many perversions in our society. other countries do not breed this form of thought as much as we do

  11. I don't know that that's true. Maybe it's just more reported there. Plus it's a lot bigger than the UK (for example) and guns are more readily available.

That said you should see the state the UK is in right now with gun & knife crime. We get more like the States every day... *sigh*

I don't think the Americans have more serial killers, people are the same the world over, it's just better reported there so more people get to hear about it.

  12. Because it has a bigger population, therefore more chance, statistically, of people with mental illness, something's gone wrong, issues, etc.

  13. Because in most other countries, survival itslef is an issue. Americans have too much free time on their hands.

  14. The media:

    A) makes you more aware of them

    B) somewhat glamorizes it

  15. Numbers...300 million people...numbers man!

  16. Most murders are influenced by money, but in a serial killer is a different cause it is their pure mental state. Now in America as children watch Tv and the internet and video games they start to believe that killing is ok and it grows with them into adulthood.

  17. Because life in North America is boring.
