Why are there so many thunderstorms lately?

I live in New York City and the weather is driving me crazy!

The weather forecast always says thunderstorms and it's right sometimes, but other times, the weather is great outside! What is with this?!

And why are there so many thunderstorms lately?!

I think I know why the weather is crazy. It is very hot and humid here in the summer sometimes.

First, I think there is a high pressure system and then there is a low pressure system moving through our area.

The heat has to break and cool down so the thunderstorms break heat waves and the humidity which makes the air sticky and uncomfortable.
