Question:

Why are there so many tornados in America... But hardly any in New Zealand?

Ive seen ONE tornado in NZ, and heard about another. Im GLAD that there are so little... but i just wanna know why?

There are three ingredients useful for making tornadoes.  One is the supply of warm moist air from the Gulf of Mexico.  A second one is the presence of cold air coming down from Canada.  The third one is the Rocky Mountains, which dry the air coming across them; dry air can support a much higher temperature gradient than wet air.  When you get the three of these in one place, the results are explosive.

  3. its the rocky mountains elevation as weather moves across them combined with cold fronts dropping from the artic circle that make for ideal conditions almost all year lomg.

  4. tornadoes and likewise are phenomenons of the sub tropic /sub temperate regions....where the cold meets the hot..thus resulting imbalances of air pressure and "wind chase"....

    NZ lies not in tat region.....
