  1. Because ketchup is special


  2. Advertisers and marketing is the cause of so many spellings of ketchup, catsup, katsup and the like. Mustard is made from the ancient mustard seed and to respell it would make it ridiculous.  Would you buy musterd or mystard, it just doesn't work
