  1. lisa hit the nail on the head. yes darling! its all showing off, look how much dosh i have. my aunt (ha ha if she is reading this im done for) is very well off. She drives a 4x4 and has a personalized car plate.

i mean, come one, whats the need for a personalized car plate???

and people who come tarted up to pick up their kids from school p**s me off too.

  2. If they're mums, it's about a billion times easier to get a child in & out of a seat higher up than it is lower down, it stops your back hurting and when you think if the number of times per day it sometimes needs to be done, I'd say give them a break.

and no I don't drive one, and find them annoying on the roads in London due to the space they take up, but I do think it's fair to state an oft-cited and very logical reason.

  3. because they cant drive normal cars.... oh hang on...

    WOMEN CANT DRIVE.. FULL STOP!!!!!

  4. No not a status symbol its so they dont have the stress of choosing between front or rear wheel drive.

  5. They are women, hear them roar.

It has nothing to do with safety or better visibility or need for more room for kids and cargo.

If they have a Hummer H2, It makes them feel empowered, it makes them feel strong, It makes them feel like......men.

  6. Because women thing SUVs make them "safe" because they are big and high off the ground. The ironic thing is they handle worse and flip over easily because of that so sedans are actually safer.

  7. So the lazy buggers can run their precious little brats to school.

Cheryl O. We get them down in Cornwall in their droves, and all our lanes are narrow. They insist on driving in the middle, in case the foliage scratches the paintwork, and they have absolutely no idea how to reverse, so us poor Country folk spend half our lives backing up for them.

  8. What annoys me with them is they are driving a 4x4 and they come to a speed bump and slow down to about 5mph to go over it. For gods sake it's designed to be driven over rough terrain it can handle a few piddly speed bumps!!

  9. better vision around the vehicle, larger car and they feel safer but little do they know the the centre of gravity is higher and more prone to roll over and don't have the designed "crumple zones" to absorb impact if involved in accidents.

My belief is if they can't change a tyre on the vehicle they are driving, they shouldn't be driving it.

  10. Here we go again. Bash the 4X4s. Most of them are driven by men, whoever it is driving has probably paid for it, 4X4s aren't all designed for off roading (try it in a Subaru Imprezza or a BMW X5, you won't get far!) At the end of the day, it's a sexist thing. If the woman is driving a 4X4, a sports car, a BMW, or whatever, it's because she is on power thing. Come on, keep your nose out, both myself and my wife drive our Discovery, because we love it, it is actually big enough for me to sit in without my head touching the roof (I'm only 6 foot, not that tall). Comes down to jealousy I suppose. Having said that, I have never seen a man driving a Volvo C90 4X4 (Definately not an off-roader)!!

  11. There's so much bitterness over something that really doesn't matter. Who cares what people drive? Why let it get under your skin? It's not what we drive that matters, it's how and when we drive.

The guy who commutes a hundred miles a day in his Ford Focus is doing a lot more damage to the atmosphere than someone poodling around a few miles a day in a 4x4. So why don't we get bitter and twisted about people who live 50 miles from their work?

4x4's may be a status symbol, but no more so than Jags, BMWs, Mercs, etc. etc. but we don't hear people getting all uptight about them with their V8 engines!

Live and let live, I say.

  12. I suspect that a lot of them are a sort of trophy second wife. I do not know why, but there seems to be a bit of Macho in it. Most women I know actually prefer a smaller car. You can fit two or three children in most of them

  13. I have and show horses and personally am a really good driver. I drive a crew cab chevy hd and love it , plus  I love to offroad. My other vehichle is a bmw and i also happen to be a runway model. I would say I am an all around girl. Who cares what I drive?

  14. My sister drives one and she Say's she feels safer because you are higher up in a 4x4 and the fact that it is a bigger car might have something to do with her feeling safer.

  15. Like chad said allot of them find it safer in them, but like on topgear they pointed out it can be really harsh to drive a 4X4 on a normal road because you are putting others lives at risk, when a 4X4 collides with a normal car, the ones in the normal car will be more likely to survive, injuring the other party much much worse than if they were to drive a normal sized car.

It is uneccessary to drive them yet some people like to shoe off in them, feel safe in them, or just like the extra comfort but they do not thik of the real price of it, ie the fuel consumption etc.

  16. It's that pesky "freedom of choice" thing that we hear so much about. Relax. You have it too.

  17. combination of status and trying to protect their precious darlings on the school run. the things should be banned in towns.

  18. Simple. Because they can!

  19. So they can park on the grass verge by the school, and in so doing make it a muddy slush so the only thing that can drive through such churned up mud is a sodding 4x4.  I HATE THEM.
