Why are there so much electrostatic charges in the air in Beijing?

  1. Because in Winter, specially in sub zero weather, the humidity is extremely low. Low humidity aides the charging of particles.

    It's not a Beijing typical thing, you have it everywhere were it gets very dry and cold. It gets then amplified because of the often synthetic clothes you wear that charges up.  


  2. December and January are extremely DRY in Beijing.

    Low humidity are usually the direct cause of High Electro Static Discharge risks.

    The first two answers are wrong.  They have no clues about physics.

    Cooltronix is the only person that has provided a good answer so far.

  3. It's because of all the DUST in the air. Dust has a negative charge
