Question:

Why are there some people who can't tell the difference between a conversation and a lecture?

You know that guy. Shows up at Thanksgiving dinner and decides that's a good time to give his manifesto on Iraq policy. Then there's the guy who harasses the checkout clerk at Target, because that store sells Nike, and he thinks that Nike is run by an evil, imperialistic conglomerate. He does this, even though the clerk has nothing to do with corporate policies.

Why do these knuckleheads act that way? Are they so insecure that they feel they have to constantly seek out an audience to validate their delusions, or are they so narcissistic and self-important that they actually think they are helping others with their lectures?

  1. They are really annoying. Lecturing people is the only outlet they have for their frustration and they think we care as much as they do.
