I just made a new team and I have no idea what to name it.

Just curious, why are a lot of teams named after shoe companies?

such as Asics Kiva 18 Black, Kaepa Hardrock 18 Red, Asics NHT Blue.

and what do the colors stand for?

  1. Some good names are stuff actually related to volleyball..like...Take it By Storm, Acers, Spike it Up...or things like...Acceleration, Excell, ect. Anyways the answer to your other question about why teams will name themselves after shoe companies is because they are probably sponsored by them or maybe the director of their club just picked umm..or just maybe they were stumped on a name so they just picked a shoe company.

    Good Luck with a name!!!

  2. Colors are colors..Team names are team names. Make it catchy and something that everyone would like!!! Have fun with it!!!

  3. Well they arent shoe companies but they are named after popular brand names sortof like peoples email are named after stores like Hollister or AE.  The colors are just different levels but htey can be numbers too it doesnt matter.  The 18 is the age group if it is 181 it means the #1 18 team or 182 is the 2nd best team and so on.  A good team name i think would be your first cheer at practice.  We had to make up a goofy cheer and it was YAHTZEE!!!  so it stuck.  Be creative and yourself ♥ ♥ ♥

  4. call it the f**s like you

  5. okay... so i dont exactly think its because they are sponsered by them, it might be, but the club that i play is called norco standing for northern colorado, and we are sponsered by under armour which has nothing to do with our name... consisting of colors, there is a system... Mostly if u are a national team, u wanna have the color be black. The top team is always black, the second team is the next darkest color and so forth. like with my team, it goes black, blue, then white for the different teams of that devision

  6. Good club teams can potentially receive sponsorships from large, volleyball-related companies, and shoe companies are logical sponsors.  These companies stand to benefit the most from exposing their names in this way, as volleyball shoes are the biggest-selling volleyball item.

Thus, each of these teams are named after their sponsors.  The colors at the end of the teams' names help clubs differentiate between their multiple teams, especially in the same age groups.
