  1. good question!

  2. there are, they are called light brown! also there are lots of speciality varieties even speckled, blue, and pink. they are rare, most people don't want them it doesn't affect the taste, and they can't be sold commercially, so not much market therefore farmers don't want to bother.it's worth more to the farmer to allow the chickens to breed and sell fertilized eggs to hatch.

  3. There are mixed colored eggs. I can buy green eggs from my neighbor. They even have tan eggs and some rust-colored eggs. It just depends on the chicken that layed the egg. Different types of chickens lay different eggs.

  4. There are spotted or dappled colored eggs.  I haven't seen them in chicken eggs for many years. Wild birds still lay them.  I suppose the demand for solid colored eggs has forced farmers to breed them out and have made the spotted eggs obsolete.  My understanding is  that the color of the egg yolk  depends upon the feed the chickens are given.

  5. I have used blue and green ones from Peruvian chicken, it all depends on the breed o hen, white eggs from white feathered hens, brown from the brown, and the Peruvian hens can have black or grey even reddish coloured feathers.

  6. You can get colored eggs from the Easter bunny!

  7. White eggs come from white chickens and brown eggs come from brown-ish chickens. There has to be other colored chickens to get different colored eggs.Heres a link to check

  8. There are mixed colored eggs but not so much for domestic chickens.

Certain chickens were bred for commerial use. They do not have spotted eggs,  since consumers may see them as being dirty.

A spotted egg is generally made by a bird who is trying to disguise the egg.

Some brown eggs though are speckled.

I am not sure what makes a chicken egg spotted, possibly someone else could answer that.

  9. typically your grocery store eggs are coming from one source per vendor. the color of the egg has to do with the type of hen and its diet. If brand "A" eggs has hens that lay brown eggs then your carton will only have brown eggs. Eggs are also catergorised by size and quality and because they are delicate it would be too much to mix them up. the eggs are layed, sorted and packaged pretty much right away
