Why are these 6x9 so loud?

okay my friend a work bought 2 6x9 pioneer speakers(from walmart they handle 40watts rms). a year ago and he has been playing them with an amp since. they have been kicked ,cut , and damaged, but still they play loud and clear off of way more than 40 watts. how is it that they can handle so much. even when he plays it off the deck they are loud. how?

  1. if he has a big trunk under the 6x9's then the 6x9's are acting like a free air subwoofer and the sound from the 6x9's are echoing in the trunk resulting in a loud sound.  If he had the same radio/speaker setup in a small car or a mercedes (with a lot of insulation, it would not sound as good.

    Basically, he has the right car for the right speakers.  1 in 3 speakers sold world wide are actually Pioneer (they make speakers for many companys including the other major brands)

    Lesson to remember is look at the entire sound installation before buying gear that some dude says is good.  Vehicle, speaker position, radio, radio power specs, customer budget.  

    A good installer will consider all these factors
