TO ME, I think some of the "sports" should not be Olympic Sports. These are left in the Games and they are getting rid of baseball and softball?

Sports that should be added to the Olympics:

1. Rugby

2. Polo

3. Lacrosse

4. Surfing

5. Skateboarding

6. Inline Speed Skating

"Sports" that should be eliminated from the Olympics:

1. Trampoline

2. Ping-Pong aka Table Tennis

3. Badminton

4. Rythmic Gymnastics

5. Equestrian

6. Syncronized Swimming

On the cusp:

1. Diving

2. Handball

THESE ARE JUST MY OWN PERSONAL OPINIONS. What do you think about these so called "sports"?

  1. why would you want to take sports out, there's nothing in the olympics that I've heard of that limits the number of sports that can be played.

  2. It's definitely ok to have your own OPINION but before you formulate one, maybe you should take into consideration that you don't know everything.  For instance, not only to the athletes in the Olympics train for YEARS to get where they are, the equestrian athletes have to train their own bodies AS WELL as those of the horses they ride.  So maybe instead of removing "equestrian" from the Olympics, it would actually be more fitting to give two medals to the winners of those events, one for the human athlete and one for the horse athlete.

  3. The ones that you think should be added are good its just that I dont know how much other countries play them like lacrosse and rugby. Diving table tennis and badminton are all keepers though

  4. why the h**l would you put surfing and skateboarding in the olympics and the sports that you think should be eliminated from the olympics shouldn't because it takes a lot of skill to do those sport.

  5. If you are the one who decides that and that will be the end of Olympics...

  6. im getting tired of people who disrespect some sports just because they think its boring or for w.e reasons. Each sport is unique and is harder to execute than u think. Have some respect for the athletes who train their a** off for their sport instead of thinking  of whats fun for u to watch on TV.

  7. I am glad that you are NOT the one making such decision!

  8. You are an idiot if you think that equestrian sports are going to get eliminated from the Games. Even the ancient Olympics included events involving horses- they had horse races, chariot races, dressage ( though it was not called that at that time) a crude form of polo, and something called the Miltare, which was the forerunner of today's modern 3 Day Event. Why would you want to eliminate them? Getting a horse to do things like jump fences which are 5 feet tall and 6 feet wide is not a simple task- it requires years of practice and hard work to learn to do this well. The same goes for the other horse sports, most of which require a LIFETIME of practice, training, and hard work to learn to do well. I know- I'm involved in one of them myself. Have YOU ever ridden a horse over fences of that height? Could YOU take a horse around a cross country course and bring him or her back sound and in good shape, and under the time limit? If you answered no, then why are you insulting those of us who love these sports, love horses, and choose to be involved with them??  Horse sports have been in the Olympics since 1912- almost a century now. They deserve to be there in the future.

Polo is a sport which HAS been in the Olympics from time to time, as a demonstration sport. Right now, not enough countries participate in it to make the IOC ready to add it to the roster as a medal sport- but that could change as the popularity of polo continues to grow. My own sister is a player, in fact, and she and most of her friends would love to see polo become a medal sport at the Games. Most of these other sports you talk about adding are those which are played mainly in the UK, and not elsewhere, with the exception of surfing, rollerblading, and skateboarding ( which I don't consider to even be a sport any way, just an obnoxious past time for teenyboppers who are looking for a cheap thrill) and a lot of Americans don't even know what they are.

Table tennis, badminton, and other racquet sports are VERY POPULAR in Asia and the Far East, and eliminating them would insult the countries where they are played. Rhythmic gymnastics and synchronized swimming are also very popular worldwide- and I personally enjoy seeing them. I like them a lot better than watching some teenage boy end up on his head or his butt while trying to do acrobatics on a skateboard, that's for sure. I don't know why you are so prejudiced and biggoted towards so many sports- that's sad.

That's just MY take on this...

  9. It's time to grow up and realize that the Olympics are comprised of the most popular sports in the entire world, not just in your neighborhood.

In order for a sport to be part of the Olympic games, a certain number of countries must participate in it. Perhaps you noticed that BMX biking became an Olympic sport this year. It was added because there are now enough countries interested in competing in this sport.

If you are unhappy that baseball is disappearing, you will need to mount a campaign to make it popular in other nations again. And you will have to do it without insulting the tastes of people who have different sporting interests than you.

Finally, if you are going to promote or criticize a particular sport, you should know what that sport actually entails. For example, polo, which you say you would like to see in the Olympics, is an equestrian sport. "Equestrian" means "involving horses." However, you also say that "equestrian" (whatever you mean by that) is not a "real sport" and "should be eliminated." I have a feeling that you either do not know what polo is, or you don't know what is meant by "equestrian sports."

  10. No... table tennis and badminton should be a sport. They're pretty exciting to watch if they're both really good players. It might seem lame to you, but it's played internationally.

  11. Surfing??? are you crazy?? xDDD!!

  12. Well said Starlight 1.

Most people do not understand how demanding equestrian sports are. Dressage and Show jumping alone are extremely rigorous sports and it does take years to get to the Olympic level.  Combine both of them with Cross Country and 3 day eventing is the ultimate horse sport. What other sport combines two other sports that are medal sports alone and a third one as well. And horse sports are indeed a historical part of the Olympics and to take them out would anger millions of people around the world.

  13. All I have to say is you are clueless.  Explain why diving and handball should be dropped.  Surfing,Skateboarding, Inline Speed Skating what is this the X Games?
