Why are these people classified as "smart"?

I understand that everyone is good at "something," but why do I often hear that Anthropology majors are really smart? (I don't know anyone who is an Anthropology major BTW) What kind of people study anthropology? (don't say "anthropologists")

I took an Anthropology course my first year of college. I do know someone who is anthropology major, and they don't necessarily have to be very "smart." However, my professor was very smart and knew tons of information about the topics in this course.

anthropology is the study of humankind, esp. of it's societies and customs. or, the study of the structure and evolution of human beings as animals. students who are majoring this subject has high interests in studying the human nature. while being a smart is considered intelligent, clever, bright, brilliant, quick-witted, sharp, acute, astute, capable, able, adept, apt, quick, ingenious; etc. and a person is considered smart, not only in anthropology but in some certain areas depending on the person in which he/she is brilliant to that subject.
