Why are they called silverfish, where do they come from, are they harmful?

well they can be silvery in color and I guess who ever the first person to name thought they looked fish like?  The can be found in humid environment (doesn't mean wet)  In most homes they will be found in attic and wall space.  They will damage stored papers and old books.  In Grandma's day they were considered a clothing pest due to clothing made from hemp cotton with vegetable based dyes where todays clothing is colored with petroleum based dyes.
