Why are they getting rid of chalk boards and going to dry erase boards?

No chalk dust, and easier to keep clean.

Most likely because chalk boards are messier with the chalk that accumulates in the tray and erasers that have to be beaten.

The white boards are really simple to clean and maintain.

It's been a long time since I was around chalk boards but a lot of people are allergic to the chalk dust too.

I think maybe because they are cleaner.. you don't get chalk dust everywhere..
