Why are they not playing Torrey Pines from the tips on Sunday at the US Open?

If this isn't the situation to put the tee markers all of the way back, then what is?

i think one of the main reasons is that no one wants to go out and watch the best golfers in the world shoot 2 over par as the best score...so they scoot them up to lower the scores a bit.

but thats just my opinion.

Its not always about length.  The tournament committee/ USGA wanted it that way for some reason.  TP south is long enough in my opinion. HEY,  The best player in the world just doubled, then bogeyed those forward tee positions
