  3. Thunderstorm clouds are not really darker in color. It's all an illusion provided by mother nature. Since these clouds block out the sun and are very thick, they block out the sunlight, but are still white in color. If you can see a thunderstorm cloud from a distance, you will see that is white. Besides, all clouds are white in color, and its how much sunlight shines on them, how much they block out sunlight, and what time of day it is that makes clouds look like a different color.

  4. Cumulonimbus clouds contain darker colors because they have towering heights. The cloud absorbs more incoming solar radiation because of it.
