  2. because of both. and yes they are heavier but its almost all muscle. they need strong arms becasue arms pull people through to the finsih believe it or not. and they need really strong legs to make it ther.e.

  3. its sprinters who are bulked up.  the reason being is because their drive comes from their arms.  if you have more power to pump your arms, your legs will come with it.  here is a little experiment you can try on your own.  just do a light jog in your front yard and then start quickly swinging your arms.  you should find that your feet will pick up their speed also.  now just imagine having the power and explosiveness that sprinters have with all the arm muscle.  logically having more mass would slow them down, but in their case it actually helps them.  distance runners are a different story.  they do lift weights, but the weight is light and the repetitions are high.  reason being is for arm endurance.  if their form falls apart because of tired arms the race is as good as lost.

  4. Well most people who are in track practice every day, because the more running you do the more conditioned you are and you go much faster.  and some do lift weights, it helps if your in a field sport too.  So it depends what you are in!

  5. Probly both

  6. Track runners are bulked up, because they run long distances, usually ranging from 4-8 miles a day, depending on how fast you are. Along with running, they also do stretches, and ab workouts, and sprints as well. Sometimes they lift weights, usually before the season beings and a few times during each week of the season. They are stronger, making it easier for them to run, with strengthened abs, they will be able to run longer distances without any side aches or side stitches. They won't be slower, unless they have a bad day in their race or training, like they ate something wrong or something. With more muscles in their body, that means they have less fat, so it'll be easier for them to run.

  7. They lift weights. Runners have to lift weights, because when they run, if their legs are tired and die, their arms start pumping to keep them going. And if you have no arm strength, you are gonna crash and burn. Yes, they are heavier, but because they are so strong, they can run faster.

  8. They train and lift weights. Especally the long distance runners. They have to train so their bodies and legs and continue to move fast for a longer time
