  1. Could be - or maybe it is to stop drunk tourists from walking into them as they stagger back from the taverna!!

  2. So that bugs won't climb up the trees.

  3. It is the age old ecological way to fight insects that destroy the trunk and the fruit of the trees once they get to the top.

As for showing the road side edge, yes they do that but that is not the reason they are painted.

If you lived in a village and you could see the difference that painting is having on the trees you will understand why.

Lime diluted in water is working miracles, instead of having to sprinkle them with all those unfriendly to nature agricultural

    concoctions the nature-killer factories produce.

I have seen it work on my lemon, orange, pear, apple, peach trees as well as on all other trees.

  4. Well, they serve two purposes!!! One is to help deter insects, and the other is to act as a roadmarker in unlit areas......they do the same thing here in Cyprus.

  5. No, its for safety, not all streets have street ligting, so they paint the trees white so you can see them in the dark, its not for walking, its for driving!

  6. the paint actually prevents some diseases to form on the tree..it acts as a repellent

  7. To deter ants and other insects from crawling up the tree.

Since the insects can keep going for awhile eventhough there is repellent paint, the bigger the area the tree is painted the better for the tree's survival

  8. ıt ıs for you baby

  9. Better to be watched when forest burning
