Why are trees that have been hit by lightning unable to be used as firewood?

ie. the wood that has come from a tree hit by lightning will not burn no matter how much you try and light it.

  2. That's just a common myth / folklore.

    Read the book entitled:

    although it is true that lightning struck trees should not be felled with power tools.

    One result of a lightning strike can be a lot of internal fractures of the timber, and when you cut through it with a chain saw, band saw or mill, jagged shards of wood can fly out.
