  1. They want to grab your attention and sell their products or services. It can be annoying to be monitoring the volume because of this.

  2. Because when you have to turn it down you are more likely to look to see what the commercial is about.

  3. To get you to stay in front of your TV, not start carrying on a conversation and pay attention to their drivell.

  4. so you can hear it...also you ever notice that some commercials come on twice in a row? well, its not a mistake they do it on purpose...its cause repetition makes people remember better...so people will remember their product they are selling

  5. Actually, the person at the individual television station who copies the commercial and puts it into the media player is supposed to reset the audio levels according to that stations levels.  But if they receive the commercial from the agency and it does not have "tones" for them to set to then they can only do so much with the adjustments.  Not all production assistants know how or take the time to do this.  It's actually an individual station quality issue.

  6. This should answer your question.  Check out http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17229281 there you will find the technical answer.

  7. I bet you're watching High Definition programming....and then watching standard definition commercials. High definition is quieter than standard definition. SO when you're watching High Definition, you turn it up to be able to hear it better, and when the standard definition kicks in, the volume is THAT much louder.

  8. i agree with the first answer!

  9. Because they want your attention (and your money)

  10. for money. they want attention

  11. Well, sometimes if they are new they use new equipment which might have more advanced microphones and they might be really close to where they are making the commercial.
