I live in South Florida and this issue has been bugging me since I moved here about eight years ago. It makes no sense to me that umbrellas are prohibited at Marlins games but allowed at other stadiums. I know for a fact that both New York teams (Mets, Yanks) allow them. The only reason I ever get as to why they're prohibited at the Marlins stadium is because they can be used as weapons. Well there are a bunch of other things that can be used as weapons. I can throw my shoe, use my cigarette lighter, throw my beer, use a pen or pencil to stab someone, etc. I wouldn't do any of those things, I'm just trying to make a point. Everyone knows that it can rain at any given moment in Florida. I hate getting wet from rain and not being allowed to bring an umbrella is one reason why I rarely go to Marlins games. I'm sure the umbrella ban is one reason why they have the worst attendance every year. I wouldn't have a problem if this was a league-wide rule, but as I said, other teams allow it.
So does anyone have an explanation for this besides the weapon thing?
Thanks
