Why are us blacks,(some of us)so dam ignorant...what you mixed with?

Im african american,Okay. my hair is jet black and straight.its not ''nappy or super curly as they call it.people always ask ''What you mixed with''?. why are they so igorant.just because i have a differen't hair texture,they think im mixed.im very dark BTW.and i have strong ethnic features.

Maybe you are the ignorant one, blacks don't usually have straight hair unless one or both of their parents have mixed blood, that's why.

You should find out what countries your ancestors are from. I have a friend from work who encounters the same problem and her parents are from Nigeria and the Congo. So when people ask her she just say "My parents are from Nigeria and the Congo" where are yours? It really is annoying though - I am Jewish and when people find this out they always say - well you don't have the Jewish nose ... I'm like arrrgggh, I didn't know Jews had to have a certain nose!

Lucky you. You shouldnt get pissed atleast you got good hair! Im full black but im light skinded and got kinky nappy hair..

Sounds like you're in the same boat as some of the questions or assumptions that were made about me years ago.  I had very long hair, and the question of the day was, "do you have a hair weave".  I can understand your frustration.  Black people come in many different shapes, sizes, etc.  Our hair can be anything...and it can go with a totally different complexion.  Every light complected person doesn't have good hair and vice versa.

I get tired of people asking me the same thing, but I'm guilty of it too so I can't get too angry. The reason why I ask is just to get to know someone's background so that I can reach common ground. For example, someone may be jamaican and not african-american. From there, I'll talk about culture. It's more like curiosity and a conversation.
