Question:

Why are vandals so hurtful and malicious?

I just returned from repairing the damage done to my Dad's grave. Vandals hit the cemetery and maliciously tore up grave sites and over turned head stones. My Dad's stone was broken in half. How can people be so hurtful? (Sorry if this is not in the right catagory but Yahoo chose it.)

  1. Because they can... its what human beings are really like...

I have had my car vandalized before - its not as bad and disrespectful as having a grave site vandalized, but it sure does make me want to find these guys and run them over...

  2. Thats sick what they did. I mean its one thing to graffiti on a wall or something but thats disrespecting the Dead.

    Sorry to hear that.

  3. Because they had no PARENTING or POOR PARENTING.

These are kids whose parents NEVER should have had children.

  4. People are malicious, usually because they're insecure, and hurt themsleves. Anger is usually the easiest emotion to express, when someone doesnt' know how to react to pain or trauma. It's also true that if you asked the persons doing this vandalism, who the people they're hurting are, they'd probably say, "Nobody, it's just a stupid gravestone." or, "Who cares? it's not my stuff." When people commit crimes, they tend to objectify their victim, placing them either in the "these aren't really victims," or "they're not really people with feelings, like me" category. The flip side of the coin is the sociopath, who, no matter how connected he/she is to the victim (even family members), doesn't care what he/she does to the recipient of his/her violence. The long and short of it is, poeple who commit crimes like this generally do not regard their victims as people.

  5. some people are programmed differently

there is no use trying to make sense or understanding why.

some people have no respect or consideration of other people

    or their possessions

i'm sorry to hear about your dad

    that's despicable

  6. Because they are lonely unloved individuals who never had anything grwoing up and only want to inflict their pain on others.  They want to watch the world burn, future terrorists.

  7. Man I am truly sorry to hear how callous and inhuman those people were.  I bet the police are looking for local teenagers right now.   See sometimes a group of young ignorant teenagers (boys and girls) attack a grave yard because movies have taught them that cemeteries

are places evil spirits hang out.  Sadly their parents are sooo uninvolved this group got away with it...

I will pray for your spirit, you deserve a better day, huh.

But we must also remember to pray for these uneducated lost teenagers who don't realize that a cemetery is a place to lay loved ones to rest

  8. That's terrible. It's usually teenagers that do that kind of thing. They are thinking that it's funny and out to have a good time. Those kind of people like to do things that are destructive...it's like graffiti on a nice building.

I know that what happened to the cemetery is worse. They want to be rebellious and "bad". The reasons why the feel the need to be destructive can vary tremendously. Maybe they were never taught to be respectful of other people, maybe they have anger issues, maybe they're just stupid (I had to add that one), they obviously think it's fun. The list could go on and on. Someday they will understand (hopefully) what hurt, cost, etc...that they have caused other people. I really do believe in what goes around comes around in one form or the other.

They are obviously not mature enough or don't have the feeling in them to care about other people.

I really do believe that the rule of life should be treat others the way that you would want to be treated, and put yourself in someone else's shoes. If everyone in the world did that it would be such a nicer place.

But unfortunately, that's not how it is, and a lot of people are very selfish and out for themselves.

So sorry that happened. I would be absolutely so freaking angry.

  9. I think its in the right category. I'm sorry to hear about this, they usually do it because:

    1. they are bored.

    2. they are pathetic

    3. they have no life.

they should regret what they've done. its heartless.

  10. that's messed up, even if you are a vandal you have to have some level of respect to the dead.

  11. I am so sorry this happened! It seems especially cowardly to choose a grave site for this destructive mischief.

Maybe they are rebelling against something connected with religion or trying to prove they have no fear of the dead,or perhaps the cowards wanted to raise h**l in a place where the likelihood of their getting caught was nil.

(Then again, there are different types of retribution and they may get what they deserve from where they least expect it!)

  12. Because they can?

Idk, it's just how people are. They're probably messed up inside..

(also if yahoo picks a catagory, you can change it)

  13. That is disgusting!  I'm so sorry that happened to your Dad's stone.

People who do that have totally lost their moral compass, they're just full of anger and hate.

Why they're so full of hate is unique to each, I would guess.   My opinion would be that they were either over or under-indulged and it's warped them.

Also, I have to wonder if the loving sentiments on the stones make them angry at the lack of love in their lives, or hearts.

Take care and don't let those heartless morons bring you down too low, or they'll have achieved their goal.

  14. Juvenile delinquency is simply childish actions coming from physically adult bodies. They are roaming bored and get some twisted sense of power out of random destruction... rebelling to enjoy their newly found supposed adulthood while making obviously very immature and impulsive decisions with a childs lack of thought about consequences or any empathetic consideration.

  15. Those people have been taught by our materialistic, selfish society and culture to do what ever the h**l they want. I.e. Jackass, Bam etc. This is what happens when idiot morons like that are considered "cool". Impressionable weak minded young people think that's the way to be. It's part of the problem with the US and the world in general. Everyone just takes and takes and never stops to think of where it all comes from. The poor people's broken backs in 3rd world countries. They just want instant gratification. They don't care about others or the world. They just want to please themselves. They don't empathize. No one ever taught them how. Otherwise they'd think, "d**n this is someone's family member, who they must have loved. I wouldn't want someone to do that to my family member." We all need to realize we're in it together on this one single ball of rock. The quicker we all get on the same page and decide to work together, the sooner the world will be an amazing place to live. But no one wants to think about it. It's take way less brain power to be selfish than it does to care and contribute. It makes me think of the global warming issue. The oil companies just want to make money, s***w the environment. But it is all changing and it is getting better, eventually there won't be any jackasses to do horrible things like that to you and your father's memory. Just realize they are ignorant people. Pity them for they have wasted their potential.

  16. They hate themselves.  I am sorry that happened, d**n kids

  17. awww....I'm sorry that happened to you : ( . I don't know why people do that!

  18. We're a pansy society that doesnt punish people properly for stupid c**p like that.  I think some public brutality against such people is in order.  That sucks.  Well some day they will have loved ones in the ground and will understand better.

  19. people like that have no regard for anything thats theirs or anybody elses. they are horrible people and most likely wont go anywhere in life. when you mess with someones grave that is probably one of the worst things.
