  1. First of all nobody is at war with Iraq. The war is in Iraq against Al queda and well pretty much Al queda now.

    quick synopsis.

Despite what anyone tells you the invasion of Iraq (the legal basis that was not fully explained to the public) is that Saddam Hussein the tyrant who butchered over a million of his own people (600,000 directly executed), put a price on any Israeli head, tried to assassinate the U.S president, committed acts of war against U.S fighter planes in the no fly zone, made billions off the oil for food program, and known user of chemical weapons on civilians (Kurds in 1991 and all through the 80's in the war with Iran) broke U.N mandates by not letting inspectors in to do their jobs (which can constitute an act of war). And thus the invasion. No it was not WMD but that he did not admit to not having WMD.

The removal of Saddam Hussein had been U.S policy since 1991 and carried out in both the first Bush's term and by Clinton to minimal success (Clinton wanted him dead).

The troops that are there at present are under a U.N mandate which expires in December. Despite what the perpectiveless current event junkies tell you every troop is legally there mandated by the U.N. The troops will leave when the ground is secure.

Real long term reason: Iraq is the center of the most volatile region in the world (besides the north China sea). Right next to Iraq is its long term enemy who is trying to get a nuclear bomb and has vowed to wipe Israel off the map. With Iraq a democracy it will do two things to Iran. 1. insight the growing democracy movement within Iran. 2. Leave a buffer zone (with U.S presence) between Israel and its Arab and Persian neighbors thus securing the ideological center of most radical Islam debate (Israel) and a presence to help disrupt Iran's nuclear ambition.

As cold statistics go Iraq is a very small conflict with huge gains to be had if won. This is the real reason congress voted the O.K to the invasion. America (Briton is already mostly gone) will be out within two years (in a phased withdrawal as the U.N mandate expresses).

These are the real facts, do some research and do not believe the hype. People jump on the angry bandwagon and follow the crowd. I wonder what they are going to do when America gets in to "real" war.

  2. We are not at war with Iraq. That action ended long ago.

It is now a war against the terrorists who don't want Iraq to succeed.

  3. you might not think it's a full explanation, but it comes down to one very simple thing - the thing that all wars are fought over, ultimately:  MONEY

  4. its becaus eGeorge W bush campaign was funded by people who own gun companies, they dont give him 100 of millions of dollars for nothing...

and in return he gives them a war, and they sell millions of Guns and they get there money back!...

And a few 100 thousand innocent people get killed, but who cares about poor brown people? (that last part was obviously sarcasm)!!!

EDIT..Bush knew saddam wasnt a threat, theres even evidence he had a report from the CIA before he went into iraq...the CIA report told him that, saddam was NOT a threat to the US...Of course its about money

  5. good point... i think i'll refer back to this later

  6. Because of oil, greed and the need to bully others. I'm amazed that some posters think this war is a great thing even now. Why are Iraqis defending their country suddenly labelled as terrorists, insurgents and other names? If any of our countries were invaded, wouldn't most of us fight back? I believe in peace but I'd still defend myself if my life was being threatened. However I do not believe in pre-emptive strikes as it is an act of cowardice and a form of evil control.

  7. We haven't been at war with Iraq for five years. We are supporting their new government since its inception.

  8. Oil........

    simply put

  9. We are not "At war"  the war was over when the Iraqi Army was routed, and the Iraqi government collaspsed. We are also no longer occupying Iraq, we are helping a democratically elected Government of a soveriegn Iraq fight  several insurgencies..

An actual "police action" unlike Korea which was a war which was called a police action. Iraq has become a police action that is still called a war... funny how terms get thrown around eh?

  10. Because Bush Snr failed to do the job properly first time around.

  11. Becuase were being lead by George Bush and Gordon Brown .

Those two together make - War

EDIT : It wasn't about Money or  Oil it was about nuclear.

Uk and America didn't want Iraq to have nuclear .

Then the twin towers happened, and it turned into a full blown war.

  12. Because Bush is a stubborn little a*****e. We have no enemy. Why bother?
