  1. We are not at war with Iraq, and haven't been since 2004.

We are now in Iraq, as part of a UN authorized multinational force

Helping the Iraqi government, defeat foreign and home grown insurgents.

  2. Because Saddam tried to kill W's Daddy!

Never mind the 4000 plus American Daddies and Mommies killed during the war.

  3. To

rob plunder steal pillage, oil, gas, money, gold  so Bush&Co can swim in Arab wealth!

  4. Because there are millions of things we as the public are not allowed to know due to our own safety. There are so many things going on behind those doors in Washington that we don't know about.

If they were to tell us everything, we would not be the strong nation we are because our weaknesses would be exposed.

They have there reasons, no matter what you THINK you know, unless you are sitting in some of those "Top Security and EYES ONLY Briefings" you have NO IDEA.

And lets keep it that way!

We are not technically at war anymore, we are "cleaning up the mess"

  5. We are not at war with them. We are just occupying the country and fighting insurgents and many other extremists and trying to help the Iraqi government get the country stable so they can take over their own security.

  6. Check the link below. Begin reading after the first "whereas".

  7. Good question. Get back to me if you find an answer.

  8. because Bush didn't like Saddam and he harbored terrorists. He at one time had weapons of mass destruction when he used chemical weapons on the Serbs but apparently got rid of them before the US invasion. Bush should not have gone to war over weapons of mass destruction but over the fact that Saddam laughed at 17 UN resolutions.

  9. We are not at war with Iraq.  We are at war IN Iraq.  The reason is:  "OIL".  The mid-east possesses a resource which is FUNDAMENTAL to our civilization.  I'm not exaggerating.  We wanted to impose some stability in that region and looking out longer term saw that Saddam was going to eventually go and after him would come chaos.  (His sons are psychopaths and incapable of ruling).

The experts knew that we would need close to 500,000 men in Iraq to control the country.  President Bush chose to avoid confronting Congress with a request for that.  (Draft anyone?)

In addition he surrounded himself with ideologues who were more interested in being right than in doing right.  Old men get that way.

So, put a guy who doesn't understand the lessons of History in charge, surround him with old ideologues and make sure "loyalty" means not having to change directions - not even having to CONSIDER changing directions - team players don't have opinions, don't you know.

Hire based on loyalty not competence.  Fire those who disagree.  Act surprised when Moslems object to being occupied by Christians.  Send 500,000 young men home from the Iraq Army with their guns but without any way to feed their families.  Refuse to deal with the militias.

And make sure that you look the other way as the militia conduct door-to-door ethnic cleansing.  Payback is a *****.

I guess the best answer to your question is five words:

    Self-interest, Good Intentions, Oil, Incompetence.

I might add lack of true leadership.  Both from the Whitehouse and from the Generals who sold out their Services.  History teaches that peacetime Generals are politically savy and militarily incompetent.

These guys should have known better, could have known better and either choose not to for their own self-interest or were too cowardly to stand up and ask the country to go to war, rather than put it all on the broad shoulders of our most patriotic sons and daughters.

  10. FIRST.....We are not at WAR ( Only Congress can declare war and the have not).... We are not at war with Iraq (as pointed out we are fighting IN Iraq not with Iraq)

From the beginning President Bush made it clear....."this is a war against global terrorism and THE NATIONS THAT SUPPORT TERRORISM"

    Iraq supported terrorism

Iraq trained Al Quida and other terrorists

    Iraq gave sanctuary to terrorists

Iraq funded Al Quida and other terrorists

Iraq tried to assassinate the US President

Iraq tried to kill American Peace Keeping Troops three times

Iraq paid suicide bombers $25,000 to kill Americans

Iraq refused to obey the UN Peace Accords

There are other reasons but with just this list it is clear......Iraq was a threat to America.....and was in support of terrorism

  11. Simple answer really, Iraq continually refused to abide by the UN cease fire agreement they agreed to to end the first Gulf War.

  12. The US is no longer at war with Iraq in the conventional sense.

Originally, Saddam's regime in Iraq was believed to pose a threat, and the US neutralized it. Now the US is doing a clean up job.
