Why are we glorifying too many celebrity women who are having babies out of wedlock?

It makes me so mad that people glorify so many women who are not married popping out these kids. While I believe everyone is entitled to their own ageda's I don't think the media should be giving this so much attention, it is not a positive message to be sending to our children. While celebrities have the means to take care of these kids, it is harder for the average person and I don't want my kids thinking it is perfectly acceptable.

That is a great question and it speaks volumes about us as a society.  We are pretty shallow and sensationalist as a society and those things give people some sort of fix.

do you really have to be married to be good parents?

My parents had me out of wedlock, married before my sister was born and divorced 3 yrs later. They were together longer before marriage than after. My children were born out of wedlock. Good job seeing as im not with their father and he hasnt bothered with them for 3 years.

I have a new partner of 2.5 yrs - we are not intending to get married for a LONG time yet.

But together we make brilliant parents.

You will also find that divorce and separation upsets a LOT of children, so why bother getting married in the 1st place?!

Whats the difference?

Celebrities aren't aliens! Just regular human beings!!!

And children will make up their own minds!!

The media doesn't care about your kids, that's the problem. They will glorify whatever pulls ratings. The best thing we can do as parents is to make sure we teach our children well and hope that they have learned enough to make the appropriate decisions. Two things we can't control (other than death and taxes) are the media and eventually the decisions our children will make as young adults and adults. Everyone makes mistakes, I just hope my kids learn from theirs.

Should we do what used to be done to pregnant celebrities?  Shun them and make them go into special camps for the pregos because they made an adult decision?

Why is the media teaching your children anyway?  If your values are different than people on TV, use it as an opportunity for you to teach your children something.
