  1. Because George (the "Decider") Bush -sent Us there. And until HE "leaves", THERE we stay... It's really THAT simple... :(

  2. Because Georgie Porgie had a chip on his shoulder because of what happened between Iraq and his Daddy.  He needed an excuse to go over there...and he found one.  What puzzles me though is we seem to have lost sight of what happened to bring all this about in the first place.  You don't hear the name Osama Bin Laden much anymore.  We get rid of Hussein...and our soldiers end up dead...and we're still fighting the good fight?  Not sure how you end a mess such as that.

We have to continue to be supportive though, otherwise, all those people have died in vain.  They have families here...and their loved ones are over there for one reason and one reason only.  To do what they think is in the best interest of the USA.  We can't let our soldiers down.  The last thing their families need to hear is that we're not behind our armed forces.  Best we can do is pray for their safety over there and for their safe return............and it can't be soon enough.

  3. To maintain our position as world leader. The middle east has been in talks with China and were trying to ex us out. Though we may not want to eb there, if we werent there, we woudl loose ground.

  4. Oil and new American bases in the Persian gulf, create a new middle east for Israel to live in peace. the rest is fabricated for us and did believed it

  5. No wonder you are confused. The reason given keeps changing.

    In rough order

Find weapons of mass destruction  -never found

Prevent secret deals with Osama bin Laden - discredited

Resolutions in the UN that were ignored by Saddam Hussein - only Israel can do this

So the Iraqis would welcome us  as liberators - they didn't

Form a democratic government, albeit one with death squads

Prevent a civil war - which started after our invasion

Prevent attacks on Americans - even though 4000 are dead in Iraq

Never mentioned - oil and military bases.

  6. Iraq still has nuclear weapons and we are over still over there so they can all be dissassembled. Also, we are restoring some of what we destroyed during war.

  7. Decode this lyrics " If you don't know me by now"

    Revealation 16.14

    Luke 21.8-10

    Luke 8.5-8,10-17

    Luke 9.25,55-56,60

    Luke 24. 44-45,47-49

    Luke 6.39-40,41-45,46-49

    Luke 21.30-33

    What do you think?

  8. Dear Cool Girl,

The real reason we invaded was because Bush Jr. believed in the "domino theory"--that if one middle eastern country became democratic, then the others would 'topple like dominos.' (see sources).  Bush deeply believed in this, bounced it back and forth with Condi. Colin Powell said that untested 'theories,' made him very nervous.

Osama's attack gave Bush the excuse and the momentum of having the American people behind him,  to invade Iraq (even though Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11). Cheney, Wolf. and Rumsfeld, from his Dad's admin, were all dying to go into Iraq.  Bush deliberately deceived both Congress and the American people into believing there were WMD in Iraq [notice that the UN nations were not so quick to be fooled.  Let us always remember that].  It was always about Bush's Legacy and his stubborn, unsubstantiated belief that 'democracy would work' in Iraq--that the American troops would be greeted with flowers, as rescuers.  Bush didn't listen to the many experts. OR the Europeans.

Our leadership also made horrible, incompetent mistakes from Day One (actually, before Day ONe). All the generals (except Franks) said we needed 500,000 troops, but Franks, a 'yes' man, agreed with the White House and we went in grossly under-manned and heavy-handed (exactly the opposite of what a 'counter-insurgency' campaign is supposed to do!) The humiliation angered the Arabs (wouldn't it anger us Americans?)

Bush didn't send experienced gov't people to run the 'counter-insurgency'--he sent people who he appointed by favoritism, who couldn't even speak the language--why, they had to rush through their passports because these US gov't leaders had never even been outside the US!

So the US went in bombing Baghdad badly. We have killed 660,000 Arabs in Iraq, last time I looked, including a conservative est. of 90,000 civilians. Plus we have created 4.5 MILLION Iraqi refugees.

So we are only trying to 'restore' peace AFTER we have "broken" Iraq (remember Powell's words--"You break it, you own it."). The US has killed 100,000s, bombed their cities, homes, orchards, livestock, and families, deprived the breadwinners of their livelihoods, forced many to flee the danger, leaving only the poor behind...[It's not a good way for Americans to 'win friends and influence people'].

But why are we STILL THERE?  Because, as predicted in advance, we unleashed Iraq's pent-up civil war [At least Saddam maintained civil order for Iraqi families--now these Iraqi families have to deal with kidnappingsof their children  for ransom].

As for NOW? if we leave now, the bloodshed will get worse (thanks to US Bremer, who dismantled the Iraqi military and police--arguably the worst mistake the US made during this war).because Iraq can no longer maintain civil order--and, as an officer acknowledged during an interview, "I can't help but think that we're training the Iraqi soldiers so they can kill each other."

Bush says, "if we leave now, then that means our soldiers would have died in vain." But that statement is worse than meaningless.  If our soldiers died for an ill-wrought cause? Then the worst thing a gov't can do is sacrifice more young lives 'so that the others who died wouldn't have "died in vain."

It's DISTORTED LOGIC, but Americans buy into it.  If the president of the US doesn't know it's distorted logic?  BUT HE DOES KNOW.. He'll say anything to make himself look 'good.' Even if more soldiers will die because of it.

Unlike his father, Bush Jr. doesn't care about human life. He only cares about what He Believes In.

  9. Why we are still there......and why we went there are two different things....

We invaded because ( among a long list of reasons)

    Iraq declared war on us

Iraq tried to assassinate a US President

Iraq funded and trained terrorist, including Al Quida

Iraq tried three times to kill US Peacekeeping troops

Iraq paid $25,000 to suicide bombers to kill Americans

Iraq refused to comply with UN Peace Accords

.....and despite what you heard.....Iraq did have WMD's.....we found them......they were used against us.....and there are strong indications that tons of WMDs were move to Syria

    Why are we still there....

To protect Israel and create a strategic balance of forces in the area

Iran is pledged to wipe out Israel.....Iran is Shiite......Iraq has a Shiite majority (as does several other Middle East countries)..... if we do not create a pro-west government in Iraq.....it is highly likely the entire Middle East could fall under Shiite control and launch a huge war against Israel.... we would be drawn back into a bigger war....maybe a nuclear war.....MILLIONS would die

In addition.....after suffering repeated terrorist attacks around the world for thirty years..... we had to say "enough is enough" and strike back.....draw a line......NOW we have not had a terrorist attack against an American target ANYWHERE in the world in 7 years.....that is a good thing

  10. no you should not change opinions. there is no real reaason to why we are in Irag other than bush wants revenge.  Most people think the same and there is not even any proof for what most other people believe.  Keep it cool!

  11. don't you watch tv or keeps up on what's happening in the world? the iraq war has been ongoing for several years and you still don't know why? where have you been?

  12. Because it costs ten billion dollars a month by now and is making the US bankrupt.

But d**k Cheney is soon to be one of the richest men in the US.

If only the boys can stick it out for another year or two!
