I know that there is economic benefit--through tourism--but what other tangible reason exists for maintaining the monarchy? Politically speaking it is defunct.

  1. We're not keeping the British monarchy intact, the Brits are doing that. The quick answer is tradition. Tradition is undervalued in America, but the older civilizations in the world realize there's value there.

  2. I have no idea.... The British royalty is a totally antiquated system.. they have no real power and just sit as highly paid figureheads...

  3. What do you want??????????????????

The Scroungers in Britain are not the Royal family

and the so called Posh people are not the royal family.  There is more money wasted via government,   in London or cities/towns.   I have a friend who works in a BIG Country   Hotel  and he said  that the worst people are the people who gather just enough money to pay for a so called "Posh" weekend, and suddenly think they are super posh.  The people who "are" posh act like normal people,

    and treat others with respect.

If it was otherwise it would be like  other countries  that have a dictatorship.  You can have a dictator who tells everyone he/she is honest and is 100% for the country but............

Look around you and think what could happen to you if you dare criticize too much

  4. because they have more power than we do

  5. Why shouldn't we?

  6. Good question, why do you guys keep those parasites around?

  7. I am not English, but I believe it helps your cohesion, identity and love for traditions.

Just keep, cherish and be proud of them !
