Why are we loosing the quality NAME behind name brand products?

A few years ago I purchased a MTD Products lawn mower, and after a year the handle fail off. So, I upgraded to a Toro, and, it ran great for many years. Well, when I moved, I sold my Toro Mower because there was no yard to cut. Now, I am in the market for another mower, but, to my surprise, I found out that MTD products started subcontracting for Toro, making their low end mowers sold at Home Depot Stores. Needless to say, I'm not buying Toro now. Looks like John Deere might be a candidate for me now, or maybe I will just go GREEN! and not buy anything with GAS or OIL. Can anyone shed light onto why we are loosing the NAME BRAND PRODUCTS that we started out trusting, only to find out that these products are no longer true name brand products?

  1. Allow me to bend your ear for hours.  OUTSOURCING  !  American brands are on cheap imports manufactured for a song off shore.  My last polo shirt, made in Philippines right on the tag in the back of the collar.  Closed textile plants up and down every street of the Carolinas.  You better watch that Big Green operation too, they are putting out some shoddy equipment these days.  They have just a few good pieces, most is their junk they are putting off on us.

Wal Mart is your worst culprit, they were blowing smoke about American Made brands for several years, then they phased out ALL

    the American Made clothing.

Toro has the best product now, About double the price of Deere. Take

my word and promise, you will have trouble with the Deere equipment.

  2. That happened to us too, we bought a Maytag washer and dryer thinking Maytag was a good product but it turns out Maytag got bought out by GE I think it is, and they're both c**p now.

We had problems with ours literally as soon as they were delivered.

We finally gave up on the 3rd set when we went into the store and looked inside the door of the machine and realized the other ones we would get to replace them were exactly the same machine, only had a different name brand slapped on them.
