Why are we so concerned with greenhouse gasses?

Question

The math is in and independent research shows greenhouse gasses (euphymism for CO2) are not a cause of global warming but a result of it. Even Gore's idiotic chart proves it if you look close enough.

Isn't the most likely cause of a slight rise in temperature (as well as indicated on Mars) the fact that we orbit around a huge self-sustaining fusion reaction called the Sun and that slight temperature fluctuations in that body would ultimately register here?

Because greenhouse gases is associated with other polutin.  You might be too young to remember how bad air pollution was.   In the turn of the century, it was so bad that whole cities was blanketed with soot.   It was far worse than what is being reported of CHina and India.  Up to the 1980's cities like Los angles aws blanketed with a thick layer of smog.  I remember when I was a kid, that there was a wall of smog at the Ventura Los Angeles border.   It was at the grade where the old GE building was (Now owned by Beckman).   I do not want to return to those days.   Air pollution is beginning to return to those days again.

Your mistake is to assume that this "movement" has any relationship with objective scientific inquiry. This is merely the latest excuse to justify the demonization of capitalism and rationalize the centralization of all financial, political, and military power.....in other words....our dear old friend Marxism.  

The left was HUMILIATED by the fall of the Soviet Union and the commercialization of China, and is grasping at "global warming" as their last best chance to grab every bit of power they can.

Yes it is.  Here is an article that explains   the great correlation between sun and temperatures during the 20th century.  But according to them it is just coincidence.

Even if c02 had no connection with global warming, we still don't want to choke on our own pollution. I sure as h**l don't. For you non believers ou there, consider this, if you don't believe in GB then maybe believe in the health of other people, your family etc. because although nobody cares about this now, it might be you or a family member that could be a victim of cancer from all the stuff in the air.

It amazes me to see the blind faith you guys have that your silly falsehoods will eventually become true if they are repeated enough times.  The belief in chanting was once a mainstay of people attempting to understand nature prior to the advent of science.  We haven't see a serious attempt to revive the belief by a political faction since Josef Goebbels.  I view it as a troubling sign.

no you are wrong. they both feed off each other. co2 normally acts as a feedback mechanism but on some occasions it can drive temperature. if all the "independent " research supports your theory then why dont you provide some links.

I have the same opinion as you we are a little warmer right now because the sun is burning slightly hotter. If global warming exists is the U.S.A. going to make a difference when India and China dont give a ****.

You seem to have the motivation down right.  The main reason it causes people concern is ignorance.  CO2 is a minor greenhouse gas compared to water.  It only absorbs in narrow bands and doesn't absorb all heat.  It doesn't accumulate forever but is removed from the atmosphere in the carbon cycle.  More CO2 will have less effect.  The only way to make it sound dire is to introduce uncertainty which is the basis for the argument that it must be dire.  They think it is scientific because it sounds reasonable on a simplistic level.  Climate models aren't simplistic and it is very likely that feedback mechanism exist that make any warming uncertain.  Warming is a good thing compared to the alternative if you are interested in what is good for people.  That automatically makes it bad for many environmentalists.
